NEW YORK - The New York Times Co. Thursday said its flagship newspaper, The New York Times, promoted its chief financial officer, effective Nov. 1.

The newspaper named Roland A. Caputo chief financial officer, senior vice president, and David A. Thurm was named senior vice president of operations.
Caputo, 48, was named vice president and chief financial officer for The New York Times newspaper in 2006. He will oversee the paper's media group systems department.
Thurm will manage outside printing, New York production and building operations, as well as real-estate deals for the entire company.
Caputo joined the Times as a financial analyst in 1986 before taking on increasing responsibility.
Thurm, 54, was named chief information officer for the paper and its parent, The New York Times Co., in 2004 before rising to senior vice president at the paper two years later.
Before becoming chief information officer, he was vice president of real-estate development at the parent company, leading the team that built its new headquarters building in New York.
(This version CORRECTS that the newspaper and not the parent company is naming a new cfo.)
