Taiwan's TSMC says Sept. sales dipped 0.5 percent

TAIPEI, Taiwan - Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., the world's largest contract chipmaker, said Thursday it posted a 0.5 percent year-over-year decline in September revenue amid slowing global demand.

The company's September revenue totaled $900 million, down nearly 8 percent from the month before, according to the company's Web site.

Several analysts have predicted the company's fourth-quarter revenue could drop as much as 10 percent from the previous quarter.
