Harris Urges McCain to Attack Obama's Links to 'Shady Characters'

10 October 2008 @ 01:24 pm ET

At a rally in Wisconsin conservative radio host James T. Harris urged Presidential candidate John McCain to attack the character of rival Sen. Barack Obama in the coming debate by using the Senator's links to "shady characters."

Harris' references included mention of a pair of clergymen, including Obama's former Pastor in Chicago, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr. Obama cut ties with him after video emerged of Rev. Wright making anti-U.S. sermons. McCain has previously said mentions of Wright are off limits for his campaign.

"Sir I believe that in the next coming debate it is absolutely vital that you take it to Obama, that you hit him where it hurts — his soft spot," Harris said.

"Sir, ACORN is out there, the good Reverend Wright, we have [Rev. Michael L.] Pfleger–we have all of these shady characters that have surrounded him we have corruption here in Wisconsin and voting across the nation," Harris said, according to the Washington Post provoking loud cheers by the thousands in attendance.
