Paddington Bear, the famous British bear, is 50 years old and is being celebrated on the home page of Google with a custom logo.
Paddington Bear first emerged on the scene on October 13th 1958 when "A Bear Called Paddington" was first published.
He received the name Paddington after being found at Paddington Station in London by Mr. and Mrs. Brown who took him to live with them at 32 Windsor Gardens. They didn't really know much about him, apart from the fact that he originally came from Darkest Peru.
Paddington Bear is well known for his impeccable manners as he always refers to people he just meets as "Mr" or "Mrs." The bear also has a love for Marmite and Marmalade.

Today is also Columbus Day in the U.S.
