Kennedy decided not to relocate and to leave Sprint Nextel after the company announced plans to move its headquarters from Reston, Va., to Overland Park, Kan., company spokesman James Fisher said in a telephone interview.

Wunsch has been with the company since 1990, most recently as vice president for corporate transactions and business law.

Shares of Sprint Nextel rose 48 cents, or 13.5 percent, to $4.05 in midday trading.
