Higher sales of consumer products and medical devices, along with a year-ago charge, helped the company post a 30 percent rise in profit.

Domino's Pizza Inc., down $2.55 at $7.45

Domestic sales slipped as consumers scaled back, and the pizza delivery company reported an 8 percent fall in third-quarter profit.

PepsiCo Inc., down $7.37 at $54.40

Amid a 9.5 percent fall in third-quarter earnings, the beverage maker lowered its 2008 profit outlook and said it will cut 3,300 jobs globally.

Supervalu Inc., down 98 cents at $17.42

The grocery store operator reported a profit fall as it kept product prices low, but it said it plans to cut costs in the second half of the year.
