A former North Country assemblyman and current member of the New York State Parole Board, is facing child pornography charges and soliciting charges, according to The New York Post.
Chris Ortloff, 61, was arrested Monday in a sting operation at a Plattsburgh-area motel, according to the paper.
Ortloff allegedly arranged over the Internet to meet an under aged victim in a hotel room for sex, and had child pornography and "sex paraphernalia" in his possession.
State Police searched Ortloff's home in Plattsburgh for several hours and federal authorities seized a computer from his Coldwell Banker real estate office in Lake Placid that had child pornography.
Ortloff was transported to Albany County Jail, where he was still being held this morning.
He is scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court today.
Ortloff retired from the state assembly in 2006. He then won appointment to the New York State Parole Board, a part time position paying $102,000 per year, with a term ending in 2012.
