Rackable Systems cuts fiscal 2008 view

FREMONT, Calif. - Rackable Systems Inc. late Monday cut its revenue outlook and predicted an adjusted loss for the fiscal year, saying the economic downturn has resulted in a decline in corporate purchasing.

The rack-mounted server maker now expects sales of $275 million to $300 million and an adjusted loss of 8 cents to 16 cents per share.

In August, Rackable Systems had reaffirmed its expectations for sales of $353 million to $374 million and an adjusted profit.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expect a profit of 7 cents per share on $349 million in revenue.

In aftermarket trading Monday, Rackable shares fell $1.34, or 15.3 percent, to $7.40. They had finished the session at $8.74. The stock has traded in a 52-week range of $7.47 to $14.51.
