Texas public school teacher Kaleb Tierce, 26, allegedly asked for sexual favors from three ninth-grade female students about three years ago, according to indictments made public on Monday.
The indictments, which include three counts of attempted improper relationships between an educator and a student, were handed down by a Taylor County grand jury last Thursday.
One allegation involves Tierce asking a girl to visit his home under a "normal pretense," then allegedly kissing her and exposing himself to her, Taylor Country Sheriff's Sgt. John Cummins said, according to the Associated Press
A second allegation is that Tierce asked one girl "what she would be willing to do for a better grade." A third was that Tierce asked a girl for sexual favors. All the alleged incidents took place in 2005.
Tierce - who taught pre-Advance Placement English at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola and was also an assistant football coach - turned himself in Friday afternoon and was released on bail of $30,000. If convicted, he could face between two and 10 years in prison.
An investigation first began when a parent complained about his decision to put the book "Child of God" by Cormac McCarthy on the class reading list. The book contains depictions of sex and violence. He was suspended for the book incident in 2007.
