Former first lady Nancy Reagan in "in good spirits" in the wake of a fall which fractured her hip, her spokeswoman said today.

Regan, 87, will remain hospitalized at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for a few days so that doctors can verify her progress, spokeswoman Joanne Drake said according to reports.

"Mrs. Reagan is in good spirits, especially comforted to be receiving care from talented doctors in a world-class hospital named in honor of her late husband," Drake added.

Reagan fell last week and admitted herself to the hospital after "experiencing persistent pain," Drake said in a statement.

Tests showed she suffered a fractured pelvis and sacrum, a bone in the lower spine between the hip bones.

Her recovery is anticipated to take between 6 and 8 weeks including physical therapy and a modified schedule, Drake added.

Last February, Reagan was admitted to a hospital in Santa Monica with a suspected fractured hip but it was determined she had broken no bones.
