RealtyTrac Releases Top 100 Metro Foreclosures for 3Q 2008
Stockton, California had the highest foreclosure rate in the U.S. for the third quarter of 2008, with California cities having six of the top 10 foreclosure rates, according to a new report by RealtyTrac.
Foreclosure rates in Stockton have dropped 9 percent from the previous quarter but are still up 87 percent from the third quarter of 2007 according to the report.
Other California areas in the top 10 for foreclosure rates are Riverside-San Bernardino at No. 3, Bakersfield at No. 4, Sacramento at No. 7, Fresno at No. 9 and Oakland at No. 10.
Las Vegas had the second highest rate at 3.48 percent, with 26, 304 filings, up 21 percent from the previous quarter and up 129 percent from the third quarter.
A pair of Florida metro areas were also among the top 10. Fort Lauderdale was No.5 with a a rate of 2.30 and Orlando at No. 8 with 1.87 percent.
Phoenix had the sixth highest rate at 2.11 percent.
