The route of the parade will start at 20th and Market Streets, will run south through Broad Street ending at the sports complex, Philadelphia's Mayor Michael A. Nutter and the club announced on Wednesday.

"Phillies fans have been waiting 28 years for this day. We deserve this win. I can't wait to share this day with Phillies fans from across the City, state, and even country," said Mayor Nutter in a press release on the Phillies' website.

The team and the city's administration had scheduled a press conference on Thursday to give more information on the parade. So far, the organizers are asking fans to use public transportation in order to avoid shortages of parking place.

Large crowds are expected for the parade. The Phillies had previously won their first and only title back in 1980. Yesterday night the team defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 in the second part of Game 5 which was suspended two days ago due to rain. The Phillies ended the 2008 series with a record of 4 games won and 1 lost.
