SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP)--Shares of shopping mall owner Macerich Co. surged Tuesday as the company boosted its outlook for the rest of the year, despite lower-than-expected third-quarter results.

HOUSTON (AP)--Rowan Cos. said Tuesday its third-quarter net income fell 13 percent as Hurricane Ike battered the offshore contract drilling services company's Gulf Coast facilities.

NEW YORK (AP)--Shares of RC2 Corp. rose on Tuesday after the maker of toys and infant products reported weak third-quarter earnings, but an analyst said the company is poised for a turnaround and upgraded the stock.

MILWAUKEE (AP)--Milk and dairy products distributor Dean Foods Co. said Tuesday its third-quarter profit rose sharply, helped by lower interest expenses, but the results fell short of analyst expectations, partly due to high commodity costs.

CHASKA, Minn. (AP)--Entegris Inc. said Tuesday it swung to a loss in the third quarter on a hefty charge, and plans to close the larger of its factories in Chaska, Minn.--a move the company said will affect 200 jobs.

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP)--Church & Dwight Co., which makes Arm & Hammer baking soda and other consumer items, said Tuesday charges and higher marketing expenses drove third-quarter earnings down 5 percent, but adjusted results beat Wall Street expectations.
