WASHINGTON - The United Fresh Produce Association, which represents farmers, grocers and restaurant chains, spent $180,000 in the third quarter to lobby on agriculture spending, energy and other issues, according to a recent disclosure report.
The trade group--whose members include Safeway Inc., McDonald's Corp. and Kroger Co.--also lobbied on regulatory matters including implementing the farm bill, food safety, labor matters and other issues in the July-September period.
Besides Congress, the association lobbied the Food and Drug Administration and the Department of Agriculture, according to the report filed Oct. 20 with the Senate clerk's office.
