United Technologies gets $185M Air Force deal

WASHINGTON - The Air Force has awarded a $185 million contract to a division of United Technologies Corp. for work on a turbine engine program.

The contract is for United Technology's Pratt and Whitney engine making division. It is for a new and affordable turbine engine for military planes by 2017.

Shares of Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies fell $2.40, or 4.7 percent, to $49.01 in trading Wednesday.
