Mexican Stock Exchange Down on Dismal Global Markets

The Mexican Stock Exchange fell in morning trading after the U.S. reported its first-time jobless claims climbed to the highest level in 16 years.

The Mexican stock exchange main index IPC dropped 1.53 percent to 18, 293.40 by 9:00 a.m. CST, followed by a general plunge in Asian, European, Wall Street and South American markets.

The most active stocks in morning trading were Banco Santander (MXK:SAN) which accumulated 86,686 points and America Movil (MXK:AMX) with 80,012 points.
