IRVING, Texas - Fluor Corp. said Monday that it has been awarded a contract to design and build a gas-fired electricity generating unit at a power plant in Texas.

The 620-megawatt unit is part of the Brazos Electric Power Cooperative's plant and is expected to be finished by the second quarter of 2011. The value of the deal was not disclosed, but Fluor expects to book the project value in the fourth quarter.
Fluor built a similar unit at the plant and plans to use a similar design for the second project. Brazos Electric provides power to customers ranging from the Texas Panhandle to Houston.
Shares of Fluor fell $2.34, or 5.1 percent, to $43.20 in afternoon trading. Broader markets were also sharply lower Monday.
