"The shoe check-in policy and checkout policy will begin tomorrow," said spokeswoman Dana Perino at a press conference in Washington on Tuesday. Perino had a black eye due to the a melee which erupted after Iraqi journalist Muntadar al-Zaidi threw a pair of shoes at Bush in Baghdad, calling him a dog.
Perino indicated that the President "felt fine."
"[T]he President just thinks it was just a shoe," she said. "So we hold no hard feelings about it, and we've really moved on."
She added that the President was satisfied that he was well protected by the Secret Service, "as he has always been."
When asked if the President believes al-Zaidi needs to be punished she replied that the President believes Iraq is a sovereign, democratic country that will follow its process, noting once again he harbors no hard feelings.
