'First Lady of Star Trek' Majel Barrett Roddenberry Dies

Majel Barrett Roddenberry, the widow of 'Star Trek' creator Gene Roddenberry has died. She was 76.

Known as 'The First Lady of Star Trek,' she died of leukemia Thursday morning in her home in Bel-Air, according to a statement released by Roddenberry.com, the Rodenberry's official site.

Her family and friends, including her son, were with her when she passed away at 12:27 AM, according to a statement.

"My mother truly acknowledged and appreciated the fact that Star Trek fans played a vital role in keeping the Roddenberry dream alive for the past 42 years," wrote Roddenberry Jr on the site. "It was her love for the fans, and their love in return, that kept her going for so long after my father passed away."
