Ryan Cole, 15, of Australia survived two bites from one of the world's deadliest snakes, the coastal taipan, thanks to quick thinking friends on Sunday, The Courier-Mail reports.

He was bitten when he jumped into a pool near the Burnett River in the town of Mundubbera, 300 miles north west of Brisbane, Australia. Once his brother and other friends saw him convulsing and bleeding from his mouth, they dragged him from the pool cleared his mouth, wrapped a T-shirt around the bite to prevent the poison spreading and called for help.

"I've been attacked twice and bitten four times - that's pretty unlucky," the recuperating teen said Thursday.

"But then it is really lucky to have survived. I'm really grateful to my mates that they knew what to do and did it."
