Steve Jobs takes break from Apple but stays at Disney

Apple Inc. chief executive Steve Jobs is standing for re-election for the board of directors of Walt Disney Co. despite taking a six month medical leave from his duties at Apple.

The development was made through a proxy statement filed by Walt Disney on Friday, according to the Wall Street Journal.

A controversy may arise regarding his Walt Disney position as to whether Jobs can carry out his duties. He has drawn concern from corporate governance experts after stepping down from Apple for health related problems, the Financial Times reports. A member of the board has at least to devote 250 hours a year to his position, FT notes.

Jobs has been board member of Disney since 2006 and became the company's largest shareholder.
