The U.S. Justice Department’s proposed budget for fiscal 2010 includes more funds for FBI agents to investigate mortgage fraud and white collar crime, Attorney General Eric Holder said on Thursday, according to Reuters.

Holder is requesting 3.8 percent more funds in the total budget, he said in prepared testimony before a Senate appropriations committee.

The funds would be used for “additional federal prosecutors, civil litigators and bankruptcy attorneys to portect investors, the market, the federal government’s investment of resources in the financial crisis and the American public,” he wrote.
