Commander Christophe Prazuck told BBC Brasil that in the past days “various signals have been detected by the French marine but none of which are from the black boxes.”

Prazuck said many signals were detected but upon closer examination, investigators found that they do not belong to the Air France jet that crashed into the Atlantic on June 1.

“Till this moment, the black boxes have neither been detected nor found”, the commander said.

The two recorders are essential to help determine what happened to the crashed jet that plunged into the ocean killing all 228 people on board.

The black boxes' locator beacons, known as pingers, will emit signals for only another eight days. After that, it could become impossible to locate the black box flight recorders and discover what happened to the Airbus A330 which crashed approximately four hours after taking off from Rio en route for Paris.

Searchers have been combing an area with a radius of 50 miles in the hope of detecting signals from the boxes that can be heard only up to about two miles.

The Airbus A330 plane fell into the Atlantic after running into thunderstorms en route from Rio de Janeiro to Paris.

Hey lets put a 90 day signal inthese "black Boxes". What will that take more batteries. Having the box float with a blinking light might help also

"having the box float with a blinking light might help also" If they float they will be harder to find because the currents can carry floating objects a long long way... if they don't float then its easier to find if they know where the plane crashed, it will be at the bottom of the ocean where the plane crashed

I hope they continue searching long after the 30 day period. It is vital to know EXACTLY what happened. There were so many circumstances that could have caused this mysterious accident.

If they can retrieve data from Mars then why not from the ocean? There must be better technology out there for the black boxes.

soooo. they found more than one black box signals?... why dont they use more than 2 boats to find an effing 3 foot box at the bottom of the atlantic ocean?... there should be a whole fleet of god damn ships with pingers out there... if one of my close family members was on that plane and i read in the news..."oh yeah we got two tug boats out there looking for 228 bodies, a plane, and a black box" i would be so irate.
