Apple punishes 'Hottest Girls' App Developer

26 June 2009 @ 07:46 pm ET

Apple had officially removed the 'Hottest Girls' App from its store and seems punished the developer of the pornographic app.

The developer or the app that allows users to download explicit photographs to their iPhones said that Apple had removed their program from its iTunes store without notice.

"Apple has now removed all of our apps from the iTunes store without prior warning. We have yet to hear back from them on this issue,” the developer said.

Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr explained yesterday that they had removed the pornographic App because of the developer's violation on the agreement.

The spokesman said that the developer adds "inappropriate content directly from their server after the application had been approved and distributed."

Apple has no further comments about the disappearance of all Apps from the pornographic app developer.

@regulator: bug off I am an app developer for iPhone and I think this is crap. I have to relation to the people mentioned in this article. Building for iPhone is not trivial. There is a STEEP learning curve. I really hope that pre or android get their appstore together soon so that Apple cant pull these kind of shenanigans. If an app violates the agreement, fine. However, pulling ALL of a developers app over one that is not compliant is grade A bull. I hope the developer has the balls to take his ball to cydia!

Line breaks in this comment system is whacked. I meant to say that I have NO relation to the developer in this article.

Well, it seems to me that if a developer has broken the agreement with Apple, that Apple is within their rights to removed that developers other applications. The developer added expressly prohibited content to their application AFTER submitting the app to Apple. On the other hand, when Apple added enhanced parental control systems many were led to believe that the restrictions on applications would be more lax. The way it sounds to me is that the Application was resubmitted with the updates to include nudity and approved by Apple, but later removed. This seems to be a repeat occurrence with them and it is very annoying. A more clear and concise outline of what is and is not allowed might be helpful if there are issues I'm not aware of in the SDK/Developer agreement.
