Ryan Reynolds to hit cinema screens as Green Lantern in 2011

Actor Ryan Reynolds has been cast as the DC Universe's most popular Green Lantern, Hal Jordan in the live-action film.

The X-Men Origins: Wolverine actor beat out fellow heartthrobs Justin Timberlake and Bradley Cooper, who starred in The Hangover for the role of "Green Lantern" in Warner Brothers' potential blockbuster based on the popular DC Comics super hero, according to Variety.

This big budget space epic will be directed by Martin Campbell and is expected to begin production in January. The movie is scheduled to be released on June 17, 2011.

According to Variety, the deal is yet to be finalized since the actor's representatives are working out the deal for the project.
