17 July 2009 @ 03:21 pm ET

Paul McCartney will begin playing series of shows across the United States today with a show in New York City's Citi Field.

The city will provide additional transportation service for the ex-Beatle's concerts on July 17, 18 and 21.

NYC Transit will run the 7 Subway post-game express service to Manhattan following the concerts. LIRR will provide additional service on the Port Washington Line and Main Line trains connecting to Citi Field at Woodside.

On Wednesday night, McCartney performed at CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" on the marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater where he once played with the Beatles. At the show he also performed a mini-concert singing "Coming Up" "Band on the Run," "Let Me Roll It," "Helter Skelter," and "Back in the USSR."

McCartney will continue his tour in Washington D.C., Boston, Atlanta, Tulsa and Dallas.
