Usain Bolt of Jamaica broke his own world record in the 200 meters at the World Championships in Berlin 2009 on Thursday.
He broke the record by just over a tenth of a second off the mark he set when he won in the 200m in the Beijing Olympics in 2008. His mark this time: 19.19 seconds.
Bolt also broke his own world record in the 100 meters dash by 11 tenths of a second last Sunday with a time of 9.58 seconds at the championships.
Panama's Alonso Edward claimed the silver with 19.81 seconds and U.S. runner Wallace Spearmon got the bronze medal with 19.85 seconds.
The championship finals will take place on Sunday.
