Robert Maday, an "extremely armed and dangerous" convict who escaped as he was transported to a hearing on a criminal case, was captured on Friday around noon after getting into a crash in Rolling Meadows, Ill, ABC7.com reported.

It is unknown if Maday, 39 was hurt in the crash and the number of cars involved remains unclear.

Maday escaped Thursday as two attorney investigators transported him from the Kankakee County Jail to the courthouse in Rolling Meadows. He reportedly overpowered a 60-year old and a 59-year old investigator inside the car while his hands were handcuffed and his feet were shackled, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Maday forced them to drive him to a parking lot of a suburban department store where he left them handcuffed in their car and fled. Soon after he hijacked a car and robbed a bank, according to the paper.

He was expected to be sentenced to 13 years in prison for four robberies at the time he was being transported.
