Exxon Mobil ordered to pay $105 mln in NYC case

NEW YORK - Exxon Mobile was ordered to pay $105 million in damages for contaminating New York City's ground water with the additive methyl tertiary butyl ether or MTBE, the city's Law Department said in a statement on Monday.

A jury reached the verdict after an 11-week trial in federal court in Manhattan, the statement said. (Reporting by Daniel Trotta; Editing by Leslie Gevirtz)
