Verizon, No. 2 wireless carrier  in the U.S., made its boldest  attack on Apple's iPhone with a TV commercial that boasted Droid, a new smartphone from Motorola, does everything the iPhone doesn't.

The advertisement, which debuted over the weekend, was called "iDon't" attacking the iPhone's lack of a physical keyboard, inability to multitask with third-party applications, and absence of a camera flash. The ad also  introduced Droid's November launch, directing viewers to the Web site droiddoes.com

The ad is "very unusual" to some analyst as it spend most of time talking about iPhone, the rival, according to analyst.

"The downside is that people will do exactly what Verizon has advised them to, which is to make direct comparisons between the Droid and iPhone," Reuters reported, citing Tero Kuittinen, a senior analyst at MKM Partners.

However, "that may not always work out in Droid's favor," Kuittinen added.

The Android-based Droid was co-developed by Google and Motorola and "the most impressive phone we've used since the iPhone," according to The Boy Genius Report.

Verizon's marketing has turned its attention toward the iPhone in recent weeks.

Verizon two weeks ago  launched a commercial and replaced Apple's famous "There's an app for that" with "There's a map for that", comparing the 3G coverage of their network to AT&T, the exclusive carrier of the iPhone in the U.S.
