Toshiba to post H1 profit on chips, nuclear-Nikkei

TOKYO - Toshiba Corp will likely beat its own estimate to post a first-half operating profit of 1 to 2 billion yen ($11 million-$22 million), helped by cost cuts and solid earnings from its chip and nuclear power businesses, the Nikkei newspaper reported on Thursday.

Toshiba, Japan's biggest semiconductor maker and the owner of nuclear power firm Westinghouse, has forecast an operating loss of 30 billion yen for April-September. It posted an operating loss of 23.5 billion yen in the first half last year.
