American Apparel (APP) Announces Opening of Newest Clothing Store in Ideal Canadian District

The store is located on Lower Johnson Street, a short walk from popular boutiques, restaurants and cafes in the area. The company renovated the 3,000-square-foot space with archive photos of the building’s original look.

“Lower Johnson is the perfect street for our brand and we were very set on having our only store in Victoria on this street as opposed to the malls or another more commercial street. We wanted this to be convenient to the loyal customers who had been driving all the way to Vancouver to shop at American Apparel,” Dan Abenhaim, American Apparel’s Canadian operations manager stated in the press release.

The store is American Apparel’s 41st Canadian store, and will offer the company’s collection of T-shirts, outerwear and underwear, as well as seasonal products such as coats, ear muffs, scarves and gloves.

In its press release, the company noted that it hired its 15 new employees based on their fashion sense that the company anticipates will benefit customers, which in turn benefits American Apparel.

“American Apparel is strong in Canada because the people understand the international sensibility of the brand. The first American Apparel store in the world opened in Montreal almost six years ago to the day and we couldn’t be happier to finally be in Victoria,” said Marsha Brady, a creative director for American Apparel.
