GM to invest C$90 million to expand Canada plant

GM also said it would recall about 150 workers to the CAMI Automotive plant in Ingersoll, Canada, a joint venture with Suzuki Motor that has about 2,000 hourly workers.

The automaker said it was beginning work immediately to retool the plant to increase production by 40,000 vehicles per year for the North American market. The work will take about seven months. The plant now produces 185,000 vehicles annually.

GM recently started a third shift at the 20-year-old plant and recalled about 300 workers. With Monday's announcement, no remaining CAMI workers will be on layoff, the automaker said.
