Ryan Gosling is a hero after stopping a New York City street fight over the weekend.
The 31-year-old good Samaritan, dressed in a striped blue and white tank, shorts and blue baseball cap, was crossing a street in the East Village neighborhood of New York when he came upon a group of men fighting.

The whole ordeal was captured on video, thanks to some squealing bystanders.
In the video, one man is seen getting ready to break a canvas over the other's, smack in the middle of a road where cars were passing by.
Just like the movies, Gosling appears out of nowhere, drops his brown paper shopping bag and grabs the arm of one of the men. The "Blue Valentine" actor can be seen exchanging words with the group, before escorting the entire party off the road.

Gosling is currently in New York City working on "The Place Beyond the Pines," a film that reunites the actor with his "Blue Valentine" director, Derek Cianfrance. "Pines," out in 2013, also stars Bradley Cooper, Rose Byrne and Eva Mendes.
It will be a busy fall movie season for the Canadian actor, who has two films coming out. "Drive," starring Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston, arrives in theaters Sept. 16, while the George Clooney political thriller, "The Ides of March," comes out on Oct. 14.
