Warner Bros, Paramount, Universal and now with Miramax Films, Facebook has announced the largest streaming movie venture yet, making 20 of its movies available on demand in the U.S.

The studio is offering movies that spun out of Walt Disney Co. last year, including “Pulp Fiction, “Kill Bill, “Clerks” and “Swinger for $3 to rent for 48 hours.

Users can rent the movies with Facebook Credits, the virtual currency that Facebook has developed and users can watch them on their laptop, iPad or Google TV.

Facebook has yet to become a competitor in the digital movie market.

“Our goal with the Miramax App is to offer consumers a great user experience where they can watch movie clips and feature length films, play games and share the experience with their friends within the Facebook community. And in doing so, we aim to ultimately build our reach to 150 million+ Facebook friends within the next 18 months,” Miramax posted in the blog.

The Miramax eXperience is now live on Facebook for rent in UK and Turkey with 10 movies each. France and Germany are to get it soon in near future.

Miramax has indicated that the “Beta” in the player’s title is likely to stay for a while.

“You’ll notice we launched the App first with just rental VOD — but our ultimate goal is to give consumers the opportunity to buy films and store them in their own cloud-based digital locker — to then access the content anywhere they want, across ALL devices, the company blog states.
