It's official: Facebook owns the Internet. Well sort of. The largest social network served up one trillion page view in June, according to figures released for Web traffic that month.

Time magazine's TechLand column noted that Facebook had 870 million unique visitors for the same period, which gives the site a staggering 46.9 percent reach among all web surfers.

Those 870 million visitors are around 120 million greater than the Facebook's reported total number of registered users, the Time report stated.

The discrepancy may because non-Facebook members may be visiting the site from other social media links or through search engine traffic.

The next most popular site after Facebook is YouTube. It has only one-tenth of the page views, but matches 90 percent of Facebook's unique visitors for the same time period, giving it a 42.6 percent reach among web users.
