The 9/11 terrorist attack on the twin towers of the World Trade Center in the New York City borough of Brooklyn wiped the towers off from the skyline.

New York will mark the 10th anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2011, with ceremonies.

Ten years down the line, one under-construction World Trade Center stands near the site of the former World Trade Center complex in New York's Lower Manhattan.

The former site is now dedicated to the National September 11th Memorial and Museum that features two enormous waterfalls and reflecting pools, each about an acre in size, set within the footprints of the twin towers.

According to the 9/11 Memorial official site, the nearly 3,000 names of the men, women, and children killed in the attack of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center are inscribed in bronze on parapets surrounding the “twin Memorial pools.”

The memorial is scheduled to be dedicated on the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center.
