Wondering why Verizon is not carrying Samsung Galaxy S2? The answer comes in the form of Motorola Droid Bionic, which would be available from the carrier beginning Sept.8.

Verizon claims that Droid Bionic is the first smartphone from the carrier to combine 4G LTE with the power of dual-core 1 GHz processors, 1 GB of RAM and a stunning 4.3-inch qHD display.

Verizon offers blazing 4G internet speeds with download speeds of 5 to 12 Mbps and upload speeds of 2 to 5 Mbps in 4G LTE mobile broadband coverage areas.

The device features Motorola's ZumoCast application that lets customers bring their digital world of videos, music, pictures and documents stored on their computers to their handset via remote access.

The smartphone can beam a full-featured Firefox Web browser 4.0, email or documents to a TV or monitor with its Webtop application. Droid Bionic lets customers share their 4G LTE signal with up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices when they activate the Verizon Wireless Mobile Hotspot.

Droid Bionic would be available from Verizion for $299.99 with a new two-year contract. Customers would have to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan beginning at $39.99 for 450 minutes per month and a smartphone data package starting at $30 a month for 2 GB of data.

In addition, Verizon Wireless Mobile Hotspot data plans are available beginning at $20 for 2 GB. For a limited time, customers who purchase a Lapdock with the Droid Bionic can receive a $100 mail-in rebate when subscribing to a $50, 5 GB data plan or higher.

The phone has a very few negatives, but comes at a high price point that may make it little bit hard to sell the device.

Droid Bionic has managed to get positive reviews from experts:

The Motorola Droid Bionic is everything you want from a high-end smartphone. It's sleek, fast, and powerful, with features that will please both consumers and business users--if you're willing to pay the high price, Cnet stated in its review. Cnet gave 4 stars out of 5.

The build quality is excellent, the software is clean and intuitive, and the addition of ZumoCast is terrific. The display, however, is a big disappointment. The overall speed of the Droid Bionic is almost enough to make up for that shortcoming, but the high price makes the phone a tough sell, said PCWorld, which also gave 4 stars out of 5 for the smartphone.

Meanwhile, the arrival of Droid Bionic may take some shine out of the recently released Samsung Galaxy S2, a feature-rich phone having almost similar specifications compared to Droid Bionic.

Galaxy S2 is the fastest-selling Samsung phone ever with 5 million devices sold in 85 days in Europe and Asia. Galaxy S2 is coming to AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint, whose version is called as Samsung Epic 4G Touch.

Galaxy S2 is expected to come to Sprint's network on Sept.16 and would be launched on AT&T from Sept.18.
