Saturday Night Live and politics go together like Michele Bachmann and controversy, so on the season premier of the comedy show this Saturday, host Alec Baldwin and the cast took on the GOP debate.

Baldwin played Texas governor Rick Perry, who jumped into the race with enormous support, but has been losing popularity after the last few debates when the other candidates attacked him on his H.P.V. vaccination order and opinions on social security. Perry battled former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, played by Jason Sudeikis.

All of the other candidates made appearances, including Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum, John Huntsman and Ron Paul, who was portrayed as a confused old timer who would rather let puppies die than infringe on anyone's liberties.

S.N.L. shines during hard-fought elections, and if the mock-debate is a precursor of the sketches to come, it's going to be a very hilarious season. Video after the jump.
