Gene Simmons Finally Weds Shannon Tweed after 28 Years [PHOTOS]

The KISS bassist finally asked his long-term girlfriend Shannon Tweed to marry him, and details were Tweeted by one of the guests, Bill Maher.

Gene Simmons' wedding to his girlfriend and partner for 28 years, Shannon Tweed, was supposed to be a clandestine affair until some of the guests started tweeting details about it. Simmons and Tweed, who have been together for 28 years and share two children together, had a private marriage at the Beverly Hills hotel in Los Angeles. The event, which took place at the hotel's Crsytal Lawn, was attended by 400 guests, including television host, Bill Maher, who tweeted away details of the wedding.

"At the Gene Simmons-Shannon Tweed wedding - a dog just walked down the aisle ahead of the bride so its a good start," wrote Maher in his Twitter account. Maher followed by telling how the wedding was slightly interrupted as a helicopter went over the venue.

"Only in Hollywood do they pause the wedding ceremony to let the helicopter go by" added Maher in his Twitter account. Maher ended his series of tweets with "Truly one of the most beautiful cable television weddings I've ever seen."

Maher was joined Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner who bought Playboy November 2010 cover girl, Shera Bechard. Gene's co-members from KISS also attended the event, as well as their two children Nick and Sophie. The couple danced to Etta Jame's "At Last," which was sung by Sophie especially for the event.

Tweed wore an ivory dress by Priscilla of Boston gown and $2.5 million worth of jewelry.
