Although the 29-year-old Duchess of Cambridge, Catherine, is known across the globe as a style icon and has many fashion followers, her fashion sense has been dubbed as ordinary by retail guru, Mary Portas.

Portas claims that she just doesn't understand why there is so much hype about the Duchess's dressing sense. However, contrary to her views, the Duchess's sophisticated look has been praised by many designers and celebrities worldwide.
In fact, she was regarded as the "epitome of elegance" by designer Karl Lagerfeld as she stepped out in her Alexander McQueen gown for the royal wedding.
Her engagement dress by Brazilian designer Danielle Issa was sold out last November, within hours of her wedding announcement.
However, in an interview with Heat magazine, Portas said that "I do not know how you can say she (Kate Middleton) is a fashion icon. Is that fashion? I just don't get that."
