Paramount Pictures have officially unveiled the plans for their Murcia theme park.
The park, scheduled to open in Spain in 2015, will be one of the largest in Europe. The movie studio presented the details in Madrid last week, but the promotional video has since been leaked online, giving tourists and investors a first look at Spain’s future attraction.
The Paramount theme will be based in Alhama, Murcia, Paramount explained, and will offer a range of film-based activities, from Mission: Impossible “4D” rides and Titanic museums to Star Trek-themed thrills. The project is estimated to cost approximately €1 billion, and will exceed the size of Spain’s existing theme parks Terra Mitica and Port Aventura. Construction is expected to begin on the park early next year.

The introduction of the theme park to Murcia boosts the appeal of what is already an attractive market for investment. The area of Murcia was highlighted by TheMoveChannel.com last month due to its popularity with property buyers, boasting real estate priced 60 per cent below the national average as well as the strong promise of visitors as a result of the upgrade of Corvera international airport in 2012.
With over 300 days of sunshine, the Spanish region has been deemed the perfect place to host Paramount’s 158 hectare site, with the ability to bring in tourists all year round. Indeed, an extra 3 million visitors are predicted each year, providing many buy to let opportunities for smart investors, as well as improving Murcia’s popularity as a holiday home destination.
Although the movie theme park has been known about publicly for some time, Paramount’s official video presentation finally provides concrete details about this exciting new addition to Spain’s economy. As the country’s property VAT remains reduced by 50 per cent until the end of the year, Murcia’s real estate promises a rollercoaster that investors will definitely want to ride.
