Shia LaBeouf needs help - at least that's what his friends are urging the actor to do.

Following last week's fight outside a Vancouver, B.C. bar, LaBeouf's friends are suggesting anger management counseling, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

As TMZ first reported, the 25-year-old Transformers star was involved in a brawl - which he lost - early Friday morning, after having drinks at Cinema Public House on Granville St.

LaBeouf is currently up north filming The Company You Keep with Robert Redford.

Now, days after the attack, a key crew member of the film is speaking out on what possibly provoked the fight.

The opponent, the shirtless and hairy man in the fight video, reportedly insulted LaBeouf's manhood, a source told the Chicago Sun-Times.

But unfortunately, he let the guy get under his thin skin - and he followed him out into the street, where the man knocked him down before Shia's friends broke things up . . . these things can happen when Shia's been drinking. He can turn nasty so fast . . . He's like Sean Penn, the source added.

The Vancouver fight is not surprising to many, considering LaBeouf's troubled past.

In 2007, the Los Angeles native was arrested for misdemeanor criminal trespassing outside a Chicago Walgreens. The charges were dropped the following month.

In 2008, LaBeouf was issued an arrest warrant after the actor failed to show up in court for a case that involved unlawful smoking in Burbank, Calif. The charge, which was also dismissed, resulted in a $500 fine.

Four months later, he broke his hand after crashing his truck at a Los Angeles intersection. LaBeouf had his license revoked for one year, and sported a cast for several weeks. In June, he revealed to Details magazine that he and his Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen co-star Isabel Lucas, who was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash, were philandering around moments before the accident.

In February, LaBeouf was involved in a bar fight at Mad Bull's Tavern in Sherman Oaks, where the actor was handcuffed and released shortly after by the LAPD.

Two days after the Vancouver fight, the actor braved the streets, on a bike, showing minimal scrapes and scars, according to People.

The Company You Keep also stars Julie Christie, Susan Sarandon, Nick Nolte, Stanley Tucci and the recently added Terrence Howard and Anna Kendrick.
