Giuliana Rancic is doing well two days after having breast cancer surgery, her husband Bill Rancic confirmed on Thursday.

The 37-year-old E! News host, who went through a double lumpectomy on Tuesday, is now recovering at home.

She's a trooper, she pulled through it and was kind of relieved to get it over with and get the cancer out, and she's doing well at home, Bill told Ann Curry on The Today Show.

I'm adding nurse to my resume now, she's having a lot of fun with that, he added.

Rancic's surgery started with a two-hour MRI involving a guide wire, which was followed by a mammogram and a guide wire for the other breast, which was followed by a two-hour surgery. She is scheduled for a doctor's visit on Friday, before getting ready for six and a half weeks of radiation.

On Monday, Rancic appeared on The Today Show to announce that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.

She explained that during her third attempt to get pregnant through IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), a doctor recommended a mammogram prior to the procedure.

He said I don't care if you're 26, 36, but I will not get you pregnant if possibly the small risk that you have cancer. Because if you get pregnant, it could accelerate the cancer . . . and so I did go kicking and screaming to get the mammogram, Rancic said.

I think a lot of us [women] think we're invincible . . . but we have to start putting ourselves on the to-do list. I just want women out there to know that if you could just find it early, you could be OK. I will be OK because I found it early, she added.

Following the announcement, her husband Bill sent a message to their supporters and friends via Twitter.

Thank you for all ur love & support today. G is reading all your messages. She will win this fight, I PROMISE, & be back better than ever! he wrote.

Bill, 40, has remained positive and supportive throughout the early stages of this ordeal so far.

I just wish I could carry some of the load, I wish I could take some of the pain away. Watching the IVs go in her arm, watching her being wheeled into the operating room was heartbreaking for me . . . I'm just doing everything I can to support her, to make sure she's comfortable and to make her laugh as often as possible, he said on Thursday.

Rancic also added that his wife is ready to go back to work as early as next week.

She's really viewing life a little bit differently. It's funny when you go through a situation like this, it kind of turns the volume down on the things that aren't really that important, he said.

The Rancics have been married since 2007. Bill is perhaps most famous for being the first winner of The Apprentice.
