Android 4.0, Google's newest mobile operating system, will come with the Galaxy Nexus smartphone when it goes on sale in November, but after that, there's no word on what devices will get the update. Any new Android phone that has come out in the last month will almost certainly get the upgrade, though possibly not until 2012. Beyond that, it's a total guessing game.

However, since the Nexus is a Samsung phone, the Galaxy S2 should no doubt get the new OS, as well as the entire line of Nexus S phones on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile USA. Samsung Galaxy S II phones that were just released this fall will also get the Ice Cream Sandwich update.

Google now owns Motorola, so it also seems likely the Droid Razr would get the update in the first half of 2012. Droid Bionic and other newer Motorola devices like the Droid 3 or Atrix 2 should as well.

Google created their first phone, not with Samsung, but with HTC. The Nexus One maker has said in a Facebook post, they are deciding which phones should get Android 4.0. They might try to get the new OS on as many devices as possible, but they may have to wait until Samsung and Motorola roll out theirs first. Look for devices like the Sensation series (XL, XE and normal), to be upgradable to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Google released Android 4.0 on Oct. 19, and its latest update to the operating system will now be used on tablets and smartphones. Android 4.0 is bigger and better now, and could rival the iPhone's iOS 5 in terms of new innovative functions. Along with the new OS launch, Google debuted the Nexus, and combined, they are a powerful pair, the most powerful yet to challenge the iPhone.
