Yellowgate
Minyanville's Mike Schuster warns that the new iPhone 4S may have another Antennagate, like last year's iPhone 4. He says many users have been reporting about a yellowish tint, a "washed out", a different color tone of the iPhone 4S. Forbes points out that "Yellowgate" actually occurred for the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4 with the yellow tint -- caused by an adhesive that hadn't cured from the manufacturing process -- disappearing in a few weeks. Even if the iPhone 4S didn't have such issues, many say the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Nexus have Super AMOLED displays that are way ahead of the others. Reuters

iPhone 4S launched in October without the super high speed 4G designation, and that led to an outcry of would be buyers who were looking forward to using the device on Verizon's LTE network. Now comes word from Taiwan that Apple is readying a 4G version of iPhone to roll out in 2012. It's not known if it will be iPhone 5 or iPhone 4GS, but as more and more carriers enable their LTE networks, so smartphone makers will be readying their devices to take advantage of those speeds, tech blog DigiTimes reported.

Sprint, for one will be starting its LTE network in 2012, and Samsung, Motorola, HTC and LG all have 4G enabled devices already for sale in the U.S. There are 35 LTE networks already in place worldwide and that number could hit 100 by the end of 2012. Apple won't want to miss out on that, but they've delayed launching a 4G device until now, so why wait another year? It could be because they technology is so new, Apple wants to wait until it matures to the point of it being reliable and steady. For example, if you are in an area that doesn't have 4G, what does your phone run on? The microchip in the device will have to be 3G compatible to make up for those areas where there is no 4G. That means a bigger chip, and that's something that could make it a no-go for the ultra thin iPhone.

Despite not having 4G capability, iPhone 4S has been breaking sales records everywhere. Whether or not Apple decides to launch an iPhone 5 or iPhone 4GS, 4G is almost certain to be included as well as new slimmer body and perhaps a bigger screen. Because battery life is always a concern, any new iPhone would have to have a better battery. This is actually a strong point for Apple, so its inclusion wouldn't be a surprise.
