Police Seeks Person of Interest in Kelli O’Laughlin Stabbing Death [PHOTO]

Update: No Bail for Suspect John L. Wilson Jr. in Kelli O'Laughlin's Murder

Police conducting a homicide investigation into the stabbing death of 14-year-old Kelli O'Laughlin on Friday released a composite sketch of a person of interest in the case.

The Indian Head Park Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the identity of the man in the sketch to contact its department or the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force at 708-246-4534.

O'Laughlin, a freshman at Lyons Township High School, was found stabbed to death at her home on Thursday.

Police on Friday said they believe that the teenager walked in on a burglary in progress, according to The Chicago Sun-Tribune. She was pronounced death at Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital in La Grange at 5:39 p.m. on Thursday.

Indian Head Park police Chief Frank Alonzo told the media that the 14-year-old girl returned home from school between 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

And as she entered the house, we believe she foiled a burglary in the home, and the girl was killed, Alonzo said. They confronted her, and, sadly, they killed her.

Based on the description a witness has given, police on Friday said they are looking for male - dark complexion - who is between the ages 25 to 35 years old. The man is either 5 feet 8 inches or 5 feet 9 inches tall with medium build. This person was last seen in a dark, hooded sweatshirt and was reportedly carrying a backpack or strap bag with an unknown type of pattern on it.

Alonzo said authorities would like to talk to that man.

Unnamed sources told the Chicago Tribune that police has a man into custody since late Thursday and were still questioning him and that no charges have been filed.

Police told the IB Times that the matter is still under investigation and declined to comment further.

Reports are that O'Laughlin's mother found the body when she got home.

Indian Head Park Mayor Richard Andrews told The Chicago Sun-Times that the community has been shaken by O'Laughlin's death.

It feels as if we've all lost a family member, Andrews said.

Students at Lyons Township High School also told that they are still in shock that one of their peers have been stabbed to death.

I was really shocked when I heard about it and a little scared because I live close to there in Western Springs, Tegan Moore, a Lyons Township junior, told The Chicago Sun-Times. It was so close and so random. I feel really bad for the family.
