Samsung Focus S

Droid Razer will be a top seller during the Black Friday rush, but if you're heading out to the doorbuster and bargain sales, the Samsung Focus S is worth checking out. It's $100 less than the Razr, but has a 4.3 Super AMOLED Plus screen for super bright colors and eye-popping contrast. This is classic Samsung tech, and it's the type of display seen on other high-end devices like the Samsung Galaxy S2. Droid Razr also has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, but the Plus designation on the Focus S means better resolution because the screens pixels are even closer together. Than means the displayed images will be sharper and less prone to pixelation.

If you've never seen a Samsung display, it should be known that because of the rich colors, some people find the images to be over saturated, almost cartoonish. This is one area where it is really about personal preference, so be sure to get your hands on each device before buying so you can be sure you'll like the screen you are looking at.

Droid Razr is only offered on Verizon and the Focus S is on AT&T. As high end devices, they both have all the top tech, and are offered at premium prices. Additionally, Droid Razr runs the Android system that will be updated to the new version within a few weeks, and the phone costs $300 with a two year contract. Samsung Focus S is running the Microsoft system that integrates things like Office, Facebook and LinkedIn right into the OS. You don't need to download those apps, but there are now 40,000 apps in the Windows Phone Marketplace. The Marketplace is not as large as the Android Market, but it's only been around for about a year, so it is still growing. Again, if you are thinking of getting one of these two phones and there is one particular app you know you are going to have, make sure it's available in that phone's app store.

Droid Razr is bit thinner than the Focus S, but only by about one millimeter. It really comes down to what you want to do with the phone. If you already are an Android user, you will probably opt for the Razr, but if you are upgrading from an old iPhone or BlackBerry, the Focus S could be a good fit.

Tell us in the comments what phone you are planning to upgrade with one of these two devices.
