They say the past is always behind you, and sometimes it creeps up on you when you're one of the most talked about Hollywood actresses of the present day.

In an upcoming interview for "60 Minutes," Angelina Jolie gave a candid account of her dark past, filled with risqué behavior and drug usage, admitting she's been fortunate.
"I went through heavy, darker times and I survived them," Jolie, now an Academy Award-winning actress, told "60 Minutes." "I didn't die young, so I'm very lucky. There are other artists and people who didn't survive certain things."
When asked to divulge more information, Jolie laughed, saying, "I was hoping you'd miss that!"
"Nothing I want to go into a lot of detail about," she said, "but I think people can imagine that I did the most dangerous and I did the worst-and for many reasons I shouldn't be here."

"That's a very provocative phrase, 'for many reasons,'" "60 Minutes" responded.
"You think of those too many times where you came close to too many dangerous things, too many chances taken too, too far," she replied.
By "too many dangerous things," Jolie could have been referring to her earlier days, pre-Brad Pitt and motherhood, as she now has six children, and pre-philanthropy, as she is now considered one of the most high-profile humanitarians. Her earlier days in the media spotlight were not about her efforts for charity but rather for odd behavior, like kissing her brother on the lips and wearing a vial of former husband's, Billy Bob Thornton, blood around her neck to red carpet events. Or, perhaps Jolie was referring to the drugs she's done, including heroin, and cutting herself.
While Jolie no longer lives in the "darker times," instead most recently making her directorial debut for "In the Land of Blood and Honey," she admits she still has a wild side, just much more suppressed.
"I'm still a bad girl," Angelina Jolie said. "I still have that side of me...It's just in its place now...it belongs to Brad. Or...our adventures."
