At the first press conference since welcoming a new member into the Bachchan family, Amitabh and the new father, Abhishek, said they were happy to have a daughter.
"We are happy to have a daughter. Jaya and Abhishek wanted that," said Amitabh Bachchan, adding that he just wanted a baby irrespective of the sex and wanted it without any complication, "I am now without job, KBC is also over. So I have no work now."
"Big B is now a doting grandfather," said Abhishek, while addressing the media at their Mumbai residence, Jalsa.
Amitabh thanked the media for their cooperation and confirmed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opted for a normal delivery.
"It was a normal delivery," said Amitabh, "Aishwarya wanted a normal delivery and she was in acute labour for two three hours and had a normal baby. She even did not take the pain killers."

However, contrary to recent reports, Abhishek said the family would not be celebrating an official christening of his daughter.
"Once we get a name we (will) be happy to just name her," said Abhishek.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a leading Bollywood actress and a former Miss World, gave birth to her daughter on Nov. 15, at the Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai.
Amitabh broke the news of the new member of the family a few minutes after the delivery.
